Catacomb - a mobile app

To help bridge the gap between music consumption/promotion and social platforms, I ideated and created a prototype that demonstrates a fresh way to connect and interact with artists, their promotional rollouts, and at the same time, create social connections between artists, followers, and friends.

CHALLENGE:

Can a more seamless way to consume and rollout music be created?

SOLUTION:

Employ code to aggregate songs via sound recording ISRCs from social posts, placing them into a central playlist, as well as set up auto-delivery of new releases via artist follows, and music discovery via social recommendations.

Create the app protoype showcasing social aggregation, social and DSP integrations, and unique internal features to the app like customized monetary support, recommendation discovery, and auto-delivery.


Phase II:

Integrate more features aiding social interactions and commerce:

• The ability to go direct to social account song sources.

• Follow social accounts direct from Catacomb.

• Link to artist websites/socials, link to partner affiliates like record labels and tie-ins.

• Add songs to preferred DSP playlists.

• Ability to search by song and album title.

• Follow artist label-mates and incorporate liner notes and credits.

HI-FI PROTOTYPE:

Catacomb offers a streamlined solution for music organization and discovery by functioning as a unified hub to aggregate songs sourced from various social media applications. It ensures automatic delivery of latest releases from artists being followed and song suggestions from artists and friends. This eliminates the need for users to individually navigate each native social and music platform they utilise, thereby stripping away the fragmented layers of operation they would otherwise have to manage.


OBJECTIVES:


The aggregated playlist continues to grow as users add songs via social media, new releases are delivered, and recommendations come in, allowing the user to listen at their leisure. Additional options are available:

• The ability to follow artists they had not been following previously, in which they will start receiving auto-delivery of new releases (or unfollow and cease auto-delivery).

• Option to receive up to 5 song recommendations per month from every Catacomb account the user follows, proving a new option for music discovery.

• If they'd like to, send customized monetary "push" contributions direct to artists, and if the user wants the amount to differ from the base amount they've previously set.

• Liking songs, in which that data will be sent direct to artists via their official Catacomb accounts, giving them insight into fans and aid in marketing plans.
